The framework of the services is in response to the community’s need for engaging, high quality art, and education programs.
Central to the mission of the ArtExchange is the professional development of our local artist community. Programs and classes are developed to help artists build their marketability, promote their work, continually develop their art and share their creativity with others. There are a limited number of studio spaces available for artists and ongoing opportunities to exhibit your work. Follow our Facebook page for open calls for studio memberships and shows.
For Children and Youth
ArtX offers youth programs such as free after school art classes, the Summer ArtExperience Program, and 2nd Saturday family art activities. Youth education programs meet curricular guidelines and develop students’ creativity, sense of design, and artistic skills. The programs, offered at an affordable cost in collaboration with local school districts, youth programs and universities, explore a variety of arts and media to equip young people with skills that translate into academic achievement and career exploration.
For Lifelong Learners
Programs for adults are offered in a variety of formats, from multi-media workshops and classes to museum visits and lectures, to enrich learners of all ages. Guest speakers and studio tours are intended help people experience the arts first-hand. A variety of art classes are available through the ArtExpress Program, see below for more information.
Community Events and Programs
A varied calendar of arts programs will be conducted in the ArtExchange and throughout the community. The ArtX strives to feature a range of ArtExperiences to reflect the diversity of our community and realize the artistic interests of the Long Beach community. Join us at monthly events such as 2nd Saturday Art Walks and 3rd Thursday Open Studio Nights.
